PHINMA National Scholarship grows even bigger with the latest addition of its 40 new scholars — 15 from PNU Manila, 5 from PUP Sta. Mesa, 5 from UP Diliman, and 15 from UPang. Manila scholars were officially welcomed and oriented last August 20, 2020, while the UPang scholars just recently had their orientation last September 14, 2020. Both sessions were conducted via Zoom Cloud Meetings.
Mr. EJ Qua Hiansen, the Vice President of PHINMA Foundation, was there on both dates to formally welcome and introduce PHINMA to all our scholars. Mr. Armand Galicia, PFI’s Executive Director, was also present at both events to give his own inspiring message to them.
The scholars learned about the three pillars of the program — Scholarship, Mentorship, and Leadership, as well as the benefits and responsibilities they will have under each. After everything was explained and all questions were answered, both the scholars and their parents/guardians who were also present during the orientation pledged their respective commitments in the PNS program.
As an additional insight, Ms. Angelika Mercader, a PNS alumna from batch 2018, gave the Manila scholars some tips on how they can become independent learners amidst this pandemic.
